Eco Sound Barrier by CENTRIA

Approved for use in Missouri - October 26, 2009

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.CENTRIA is pleased to announce that Eco Sound Barrier, the industry’s first inexpensive composite sound barrier, is accepted for use on Missouri highway projects. The industry’s first Cradle-to-CradleCM-certified road product, Eco Sound Barrier is a cost-effective, green alternative to traditional sound barriers and offers a new, sustainable option for noise control on Missouri highways.

Total installed costs for Eco Sound Barrier are less than those of traditional precast barriers. Additionally, fewer workers can install the barriers in significantly less time than precast, lowering labor costs and expediting construction.

“Eco Sound Barrier by CENTRIA is a revolution in highway sound barrier technology,” said Todd Padezanin, product manager of Eco Sound Barrier for CENTRIA. “Our new sound barrier not only saves state DOTs money on noise-abatement projects, but it’s also a truly green alternative to precast concrete.”

The only highway product to be Cradle-to-CradleCM certified, Eco Sound Barrier is made from 23 percent recycled material and is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its useful life. And, at only 4.25 pounds per square foot, Eco Sound Barrier requires far fewer trucks to transport it to the jobsite. This dramatically cuts down on emissions, lowers a project’s carbon footprint and reduces transportation and labor costs on Missouri highway jobsites.

Eco Sound Barrier panels come in standard lengths of 12, 14 and 16 feet but can also be customized to fit particular project requirements. The panels are also more aesthetically versatile than traditional barriers. In addition to 20 color options and an unlimited number of custom colors, there are multiple textured and patterned finishes.

Because the finish is baked onto the panels during the manufacturing process, and not painted onsite like other barrier systems, no maintenance is needed throughout the life of the sound barrier. The Eco Sound Barrier also has a 20-year finish warranty.
